Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry started regular functioning in 2015, for BS and MS Programs. The course offered in the Department of Chemistry at BUITEMS is according to the scheme of studies approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to meet the national and international standards. Presently, the Department of Chemistry offers 4 years (8 semesters) BS program, 2 years (4 semesters) MS program and three years (6 semesters) PhD program in Chemistry. Our vibrant and highly qualified faculty includes 11 PhD degree holders with vast teaching and research experience with international exposure in different fields of Chemistry.

The Department is currently offering specialization in five disciplines, viz., Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry in its morning and evening programs.

The mission of the Department of Chemistry is to create a conducive environment of learning for its undergraduate and postgraduate students and to achieve excellence in the area of research and education. The basic objective of the Department of Chemistry is to educate the next generation of chemists with the capacity to solve real problems and provide leadership that can lead to the economic transformation of society.

Admission Requirement

  • F.Sc with Chemistry from any recognized board or equivalent with at least 45% marks.
  • Qualifying aptitude test with at least the desirable percentage as decided by the Admission Committee.

  • HEC recognized MS or equivalent Degree (18 years of Education) with a minimum of 30 credit hours (24 credit hour graduate-level courses + 6 credit hours thesis) in Chemistry with 1st Division or equivalent grade or CGPA 3 out of 4.
  • GRE International Subject Test with 60 percentile score or GAT subject test with 60 % marks is also required for the admission.
