50th Meeting of BUITEMS Advanced Studies and Research Board Held

Quetta, 18 August 2026: The 50th Meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) was held under the chairmanship of Engr. Prof. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS; Mr. Jamal Mustafa, Registrar, BUITEMS; all Deans; and members of the Advanced Studies and Research Board. The participation of the University’s senior academic leadership and Board members reflected the importance attached to postgraduate education, research quality, and academic governance at BUITEMS.
The meeting considered a comprehensive agenda covering MS and PhD students across BUITEMS’ faculties and University College Zhob. A major focus was on requests for the appointment of supervisors and co-supervisors and approval of research synopses, reflecting BUITEMS’ continued emphasis on structured postgraduate supervision and quality research. The cases covered the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Engineering & Architecture, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics, Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, and University College Zhob.
The Board also considered extension cases of Spring 2024 students from various faculties and University College Zhob, providing an institutional forum for reviewing the academic progress of postgraduate scholars.
Other matters included a request for change of supervisor of an MS student from the Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics, a request for modification of an already approved synopsis title for an MS scholar from the Department of Chemistry, and the evaluation reports of a PhD dissertation from the Department of Management Sciences.
The Board also reviewed the progress and action taken on decisions of the 49th Meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board, reinforcing the University's focus on effective follow-up and implementation of academic and research decisions.
The meeting reflected BUITEMS’ continued commitment to strengthening postgraduate education, promoting quality research, supporting scholars through effective academic supervision, and maintaining robust research governance across its faculties and campuses.
Through the AS&RB, BUITEMS continues to provide an institutional platform for advancing research, innovation, postgraduate scholarship, and academic excellence, contributing to the development of highly qualified human resources for Balochistan and Pakistan.
