Update on Convocation 2020-2021

Dear Graduating Students of BUITEMS,

Please accept our heartiest congratulations on completing your studies at BUITEMS. It is indeed an important milestone in your life and a proud moment for you, your parents and us.

BUITEMS has a history of conducting 15 successive convocations every year since our first batch passed out, celebrating their achievements. No matter how the circumstances have been, we have all proven to be resilient together throughout. With the support of our committed students, we have continued our mission of learning and teaching even during the pandemic (despite the challenges and difficulties). It is during the challenges and difficulties that students and faculty of Harvard and MIT have stood different and have built their great institutions over the last century or so. We are in the beginning of our journey to build one such institution in Balochistan.

... As you are aware that all educational institutions are closed to avoid the risk of virus spread. Being educated citizens and representing a noble profession, we value the lives of our people especially the elderly who are more vulnerable to the virus. Therefore, an in-person (physical presence) convocation is not possible as of now, and there is no certain time frame from National Health Services as to when large gatherings might be safe. Meanwhile, the University will organize a virtual convocation to celebrate the achievement of our students, parents and teachers. We are also receiving messages from students who might be moving from Quetta to other cities or countries for their careers and may not wait for months for the physical convocation. Therefore, a virtual convocation is an optimum way forward for now.

Having said the above, we have also announced that we care for our graduating students and their desire for an in-person convocation. All the graduating students of 2020 will be able to attend the in-person convocation in 2021 and will observe the traditions, wearing of gowns, formally receiving degree folders on stage etc and formally celebrate in-person in 2021.
