We have been closely following developments on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and responding to the ensuring situation. We have been adopting necessary measures for the safety of BUITEMS family, and to sustain our academic mission in a feasible manner. Our actions are consistent with decisions made by peer institutions globally as well as in compliance with guidelines issued by the Chancellor’s office and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan.

COVID-19 R&D at BUITEMS
Some of our scientists are assisting the Government of Balochistan Health Department in responding to COVID-19 treatments.
Faculty of Life Sciences has joined hands with German scientists in pursuit of developing anti-viral medicine against COVID-19 virus.
A research team of Control Automation & Robotics Lab, Faculty of Information and Technology have developed a low-cost ventilator product called BUITEMS Vent-1 for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The product has been officially unveiled on April 22, 2020. A working group of scientists at BUITEMS have teamed up to study COVID-19 impact and future; outcome of the study will help the government and institutions on responding to the fallout of the pandemic and future preparedness.

Managing mental health and well-being is also important during the pandemic. Experts recommend four things can help: distinction in work (studies) time and non-work time, keeping connection with friends and family, being compassionate with yourself and others, and finally, exercise.
