Quetta: The Directorate of Student Affairs and Academics at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), in collaboration with the Community Unity Council (CUC), Hope Organization, and ISRTS, organized an inspiring seminar to commemorate World Youth Skills Day 2026 at the University's Takatu Campus.
The seminar brought together students, educators, government officials, healthcare professionals, youth leaders, and representatives of civil society to highlight the importance of skill development, leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and community engagement in preparing young people for the challenges of the modern world.
The event aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and future-oriented skills while strengthening collaboration between academia, government institutions, and development organizations. It also reflected BUITEMS' continued commitment to empowering the youth of Balochistan through quality education, leadership development, and community service.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Mr. Jahanzaib Khan, Founder and CEO of Hope Organization and ISRTS. He emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, innovation, volunteerism, and practical skills in shaping successful careers and responsible citizens.
Mr. Haider Achakzai, Coordinator of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme (PMYP), introduced participants to various government initiatives, including scholarships, entrepreneurship support, internships, and youth development programs. He encouraged students to actively benefit from these opportunities to enhance their professional growth.
Speaking on youth empowerment, Mr. Syed Tayab Shah, Founder of BWPT, highlighted the importance of promoting local talent and creating inclusive opportunities for young people, particularly women, to contribute to the socio-economic development of Balochistan.
The seminar also featured insightful presentations by Dr. Paras Shehzad and Dr. Rizwana Tareen of the Pakistan Pediatrics Association (PPA), who discussed the significance of mental well-being, emotional resilience, and life skills as essential components of academic success and professional excellence.
Addressing the participants, Ms. Fatima Ali, Vice President, encouraged students to actively engage in leadership roles within educational institutions and develop communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills through extracurricular and community activities.
The importance of volunteerism and social responsibility was highlighted by Mr. Jaffar, Ms. Sakina Abdullah Khan, and Mr. Syed Noman Shah, who encouraged students to participate in community service initiatives and contribute positively to society.
Delivering the keynote institutional address, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wadood, Director Student Affairs and Academics, BUITEMS, emphasized that modern education must extend beyond academic excellence by integrating practical skills, ethical values, digital literacy, critical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He reaffirmed BUITEMS' commitment to providing an enabling environment where students can develop intellectually, professionally, and socially while becoming responsible and ethical leaders.
The seminar also featured an address by Ms. Dura Baloch, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Balochistan, who highlighted the provincial government's ongoing initiatives to empower youth through sports, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and community participation. She reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating sustainable opportunities for young people across the province.
The event provided students with valuable exposure to career opportunities, leadership development, entrepreneurship, government-sponsored youth initiatives, digital transformation, and community engagement. Participants actively interacted with experts from academia, government, healthcare, and civil society, making the seminar a vibrant platform for learning, networking, and knowledge sharing.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of shields and certificates to distinguished speakers, collaborating organizations, and volunteers in recognition of their valuable contributions. The awards were presented by Prof. Dr. Abdul Wadood, Director Student Affairs and Academics, BUITEMS, and Ms. Saima Masood, Deputy Director Student Affairs, followed by a group photograph symbolizing the shared commitment of all stakeholders toward empowering the youth of Balochistan.
