BUITEMS Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Swimming Pool to Promote Sports Excellence

Quetta: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) inaugurated its newly established Swimming Pool at the Takatu Campus, marking another significant milestone in strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle among students.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Ms. Meena Majeed Baloch, Member of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly and Advisor to the Chief Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, as the Chief Guest. She was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez (TI), Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS, along with Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Mr. Jamal Mustafa, Registrar, Mr. Abdul Qadeem Kakar, Director Sports, Deans, Directors, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students.
Addressing the ceremony, Ms. Meena Majeed Baloch appreciated BUITEMS for developing modern sports facilities and commended the University's commitment to promoting sports, youth development, and healthy recreational activities. She remarked that the newly inaugurated swimming pool would provide students with excellent opportunities to improve their physical fitness, develop competitive skills, and participate in national-level sporting events.
Welcoming the guests, Mr. Abdul Qadeem Kakar, Director Sports, BUITEMS, highlighted that the inauguration of the swimming pool reflects the University's continued investment in student development beyond academics. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in building confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and overall well-being.
He further noted that BUITEMS has significantly expanded its sports infrastructure over the years. Students now have access to a cricket ground and academy, a football ground with modern changing rooms, futsal courts for male and female students, volleyball courts, an athletics academy, a jogging track, multipurpose halls, squash courts, separate fitness centres for male and female students, a snooker room, a rifle shooting range, a boxing ring, and now a modern swimming pool.
Mr. Abdul Qadeem Kakar also highlighted that BUITEMS students have represented the University with distinction in national competitions in cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, chess, and tug of war. He further shared that BUITEMS successfully hosted fifteen events of the 34th National Games in Quetta, demonstrating the University's growing contribution to sports development in Balochistan and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez (TI) reaffirmed BUITEMS' commitment to providing world-class academic and extracurricular facilities. He stated that the University believes in the holistic development of students and will continue investing in modern sports infrastructure to nurture talent, encourage healthy lifestyles, and create opportunities for students to excel in national and international competitions.
The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the University's outstanding athletes for their achievements and encouraged students to make full use of the newly inaugurated swimming pool to improve their fitness, develop their sporting abilities, and uphold BUITEMS' tradition of excellence.
The ceremony concluded with a visit to the newly inaugurated swimming pool, where the Chief Guest, the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Director Sports, Deans, Directors, faculty members, staff, and students toured the facility and appreciated BUITEMS' continued efforts to provide state-of-the-art sports infrastructure that supports student well-being, athletic excellence, and youth development.
