Quetta: The 30th Meeting of the Academic Council of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) was held on 22 July 2026 in the Video Conferencing Hall, New Academic Block, Takatu Campus, under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor; Jamal Mustafa, Registrar; and members of the Academic Council.
The Academic Council deliberated on a broad range of academic matters aimed at strengthening institutional quality, enhancing teaching and research standards, and advancing the University's vision for academic excellence and innovation.
During the meeting, the Council reviewed and approved policies and procedures relating to academic programmes, quality assurance, student admissions, examinations, certification, and research. Members also discussed measures to further strengthen teaching quality, curriculum development, student support services, and academic governance in accordance with the University's objectives and the provisions of the Balochistan Universities Act, 2022.
The Council also considered matters relating to the recognition of academic qualifications, professional development programmes for faculty members, and regulations governing scholarships, medals, academic awards, and other student-related affairs. Discussions further focused on strengthening Boards of Studies, academic departments, and faculty structures to promote interdisciplinary education, innovation, and research excellence.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez emphasized that maintaining the highest academic standards and ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) quality assurance framework remain among BUITEMS' foremost priorities. He directed all faculties and academic departments to continue enhancing teaching, research, curriculum development, and student services while aligning academic programmes with emerging technologies, industry needs, and international best practices.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the valuable contributions of the Academic Council members and underscored the Council's pivotal role in shaping the University's academic policies, strengthening institutional governance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing academic excellence, research productivity, innovation, and quality assurance, reaffirming BUITEMS' mission to produce competent graduates, promote impactful research, and contribute to national development through quality higher education.
