Quetta: The Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) held its meeting on 20 July 2026 in the Video Conferencing Room, New Academic Block, Takatu Campus. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Jamal Mustafa, Registrar, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, and other members of the Board.
The Board deliberated on several important academic and research matters aimed at strengthening postgraduate education and enhancing the University's research standards.
A key agenda item was the approval for the launch of the MS Environmental Science and Artificial Intelligence (MS ESAI) programme, along with its Scheme of Studies. The proposed interdisciplinary programme is designed to integrate environmental sciences with emerging artificial intelligence technologies, equipping graduates with advanced knowledge and skills to address contemporary environmental challenges through innovative, data-driven solutions.
The Board also considered and approved the recommendations of the Board of Studies and the Faculty of Management Sciences, developed in accordance with the National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC) 2025 guidelines. These recommendations are intended to ensure that BUITEMS' academic programmes remain aligned with national standards and evolving industry requirements.
Another important agenda item was the consideration of the evaluation reports of the PhD dissertation of Mr. Hakimullah from the Department of Chemistry, marking another significant step in advancing high-quality research and postgraduate scholarship at BUITEMS.
During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez emphasized the importance of ensuring full compliance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) policies, quality assurance requirements, and academic regulations in all academic and research matters. He directed all faculties and departments to strictly implement HEC guidelines while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence, research integrity, and innovation.
The meeting reaffirmed BUITEMS' commitment to continuously strengthening its academic programmes, promoting interdisciplinary research, and maintaining internationally recognized standards in higher education through effective academic governance and quality assurance.
