BUITEMS Signs Letter of Agreement with the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM)

Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, has entered into a significant partnership with the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), the research and training arm of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). A Letter of Agreement (LoA) was formally signed to strengthen collaboration in research, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with Pakistan’s diverse geological and disaster management needs.

The LoA was signed by Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, and Mr. Tanveer Piracha, Executive Director NIDM. This strategic partnership also opens new avenues for internship opportunities and placements for BUITEMS students at NDMA, enabling them to gain hands-on experience, enhance their professional skills, and contribute directly to national disaster management initiatives.

Following the signing ceremony, the BUITEMS delegation visited NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) and the Centre of Excellence on Climate Change and Disaster Management. The team received an in-depth briefing on the Authority’s advanced systems, operational capabilities, and ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster resilience across the country.

This collaboration reinforces BUITEMS’ commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and preparing students to meet emerging national challenges through practical learning and strategic partnerships.
