The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) hosted a remarkable exhibition titled “Showcasing Innovation: Water Conservation Models”, where students presented innovative prototypes and research-based solutions addressing Pakistan’s growing water challenges.
The event was graced by Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman, Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), who visited the exhibition as part of his official engagement at BUITEMS. The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Generation Unlimited, the Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement, and UNICEF — highlighting a strong partnership between academia, government, and development organizations to promote sustainable innovation and climate action.
During his visit, Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan interacted with the students, reviewed their water conservation models, and appreciated their creativity, technical knowledge, and commitment to solving real-world environmental challenges. He commended BUITEMS for fostering a culture of innovation, sustainability, and youth empowerment, emphasizing that the university has become a model institution for promoting research-driven climate solutions in Balochistan.
The showcased projects featured prototypes on rainwater harvesting, smart irrigation, greywater recycling, groundwater monitoring, and sustainable urban water management systems. Students from multiple faculties participated enthusiastically, integrating engineering, environmental sciences, and management perspectives into their projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to align education and research with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Mr. Mohammad Ahsan Achakzai, Registrar (Acting), along with Deans, Directors, faculty members, and a large number of students, also attended the event, reflecting the university’s strong community spirit and institutional commitment to supporting youth-led innovation and sustainable development.
The visit of Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and the successful execution of the exhibition reaffirmed BUITEMS’ role as a leading institution in environmental innovation, research excellence, and youth-led sustainable development — empowering students to become agents of positive change for a greener and more resilient Pakistan.
