Millennium Campus Network (MCN) Fellows — Student Profiles & SDG Initiatives

The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) proudly highlights its select group of Millennium Campus Network (MCN) Fellows — Class of 2025. These student leaders represent BUITEMS’ commitment to youth-led social innovation, research, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Below, we introduce each fellow and the focus of their work, showcasing how BUITEMS nurtures talent that transforms ideas into community impact.

Student Fellows & Their Initiatives
Ghayas Durrani — MCN Campus Director (Environmental Science)
A passionate Environmental Science student, Ghayas is focused on sustainability and climate action (SDG 13). As MCN Campus Director, he is driving campus-level initiatives to reduce carbon footprints and promote climate-resilient practices.

Muhammad Haseeb (Computer Engineering)
Muhammad is committed to technology-driven solutions for sustainable development. His work links innovation with community outreach—promoting SDG 13 and broader goals like quality education and inclusive opportunities.

Emmama Sharif / Emmama Bajwa (Electrical Engineering)
Emmama leads Minds in Motion, a project that promotes critical thinking among underprivileged children and university students. As Event Management Club General Secretary and Director of Education at a local NGO, she advances education and dialogue aligned with SDG 4.

Maaz Ahmed (Software Engineering)
Maaz applies software and data solutions toward environmental sustainability. His interest in tech-for-good projects supports practical climate action initiatives on campus (SDG 13).

Ayesha Abid (Environmental Sciences)
Founder of Trash to Treasure (T2T), Ayesha converts agricultural residues (e.g., sugarcane bagasse) into lignin-based hydrogel plasters for medical use. Her project addresses waste reduction (SDG 12), innovation (SDG 9), and health (SDG 3), combining research with community outreach and clean-up drives.

Taseeb Batoor (Electrical Engineering)
Taseeb champions youth voice and reduced inequalities (SDG 10). He organizes parliamentary debates and confidence-building platforms—especially empowering young girls and marginalized voices.

Qasim Ajlal (Software Engineering — Data Science)
Qasim blends astrophysics and data science, researching dark matter distributions in galaxies. A UN Academic Impact Millennium Fellow, he aims to channel data-driven innovation toward SDG initiatives.

Shaista Naseeb (Economics)
As an MCN Fellow focused on Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Shaista is committed to food security projects and community-level interventions that strengthen nutrition and local food systems.

Rohida Khan (Economics)
Rohida’s fellowship work also targets SDG 2. She aims to design sustainable, community-based solutions to food insecurity and to mobilize student engagement in practical food-security initiatives.

Amna Imran (Public Administration)
Amna, a public administration student, brings passion for policy-oriented approaches to the SDGs—engaging in community projects and advocating for evidence-based, scalable interventions.

BUITEMS’s Role & Support
BUITEMS is proud to support these fellows through mentorship, facilities, and opportunities for fieldwork, research, and community engagement. All the university departments provide academic supervision, lab access, and platforms for students to pilot and scale their SDG-aligned projects.
