Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) has proudly joined the Greening Education Partnership (GEP), a global initiative launched to empower education systems worldwide in addressing the climate crisis. This partnership reinforces BUITEMS' commitment to integrating sustainability and climate resilience into higher education, research, and community engagement.
The Greening Education Partnership, led by UNESCO and supported by a global network of stakeholders including governments, inter-governmental organizations, civil society, youth, academia, and the private sector, adopts a whole-of-system approach. Its mission is to ensure that every learner acquires the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed to effectively tackle climate change and contribute to sustainable development.
As a GEP member, BUITEMS will gain access to:
A global workspace for collaboration, best practices, and learning resources;
Invitations to participate in GEP’s working groups, events, and annual meetings;
Regular updates on global climate education initiatives and progress;
Collaborative opportunities with international experts and institutions.
In line with this commitment, BUITEMS has already taken a major academic step forward. The university, with the approval of its Academic Council and the guidance of the Vice Chancellor, has made Climate Change and Risk Management a mandatory component of all undergraduate programs. This curricular reform ensures that students across all faculties develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and are prepared to lead in sustainable development.
Joining the Greening Education Partnership marks another significant milestone in BUITEMS’ journey towards global relevance, academic excellence, and social responsibility. It positions the university as a leading institution in Pakistan in climate action and sustainable education, while empowering its students to become agents of change in their communities and beyond.
