BUITEMS Marks Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with Flag Hoisting Ceremony & Tree Plantation Drive

Quetta, August 14, 2025 – The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) commenced its 78th Independence Day celebrations with a dignified National Flag Hoisting Ceremony and a meaningful Tree Plantation Drive at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, Takatu Campus.

The festivities began at 09:45 AM with the arrival of:
Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS
Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor
Mr. Mohammad Ahsan Achakzai, Acting Registrar
All Deans of faculties
All Directors of departments and centers
Faculty members, administrative staff, students, and invited guests
The program opened with the National Flag Hoisting Ceremony, where Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, accompanied by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Acting Registrar, and senior leadership, hoisted the flag of Pakistan to the harmonious tune of the National Anthem sung by BUITEMS students. The moment was filled with emotion and pride, as attendees stood in unison, paying tribute to the nation’s sacrifices and reaffirming their commitment to Pakistan’s progress.

Following the flag ceremony, BUITEMS leadership launched a Tree Plantation Drive, emphasizing environmental sustainability as a patriotic responsibility. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez personally planted the first sapling, followed by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Acting Registrar, Deans, Directors, faculty members, and students. The activity underscored BUITEMS’ commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13: Climate Action), linking the celebration of independence with the need for environmental stewardship.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor stated:
“Our freedom came through immense sacrifice, and it is our duty to preserve and strengthen our country—not only through education and innovation but also by protecting our natural resources for future generations.”

Guests then toured the Art, Tech, and Textile Exhibitions, where BUITEMS students displayed exceptional creativity, innovative projects, and academic excellence. These exhibitions served as a vibrant reminder of BUITEMS’ role in fostering talent, innovation, and national pride.

The event concluded with group photographs, capturing the unity and enthusiasm of the BUITEMS community as they celebrated Independence Day with both patriotism and purpose.
