Final Year Project – Make it Count!

The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) continues its tradition of empowering students with practical knowledge and future-focused skills. On April 17, 2025, the IEEE BUITEMS Student Branch, in collaboration with IEEE Quetta Sub-Section and IEEE WIE BUITEMS, hosted a seminar titled “Final Year Project – Make it Count!” at Pink Hall, Takatu Campus.
The seminar was specifically designed for 6th-semester students of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), aiming to guide them in developing innovative and impactful Final Year Project (FYP) ideas.
Seminar Highlights
Guest Speaker: Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Ali, an expert in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision. Audience: Over 150 FICT students attended the session.
Focus Areas:
Importance of selecting meaningful and industry-relevant FYP topics.
Practical strategies for planning, executing, and managing projects.
Emphasis on teamwork, documentation, and alignment with emerging technologies.
Linking academic projects to real-world societal needs and industry demands.
Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Ali underscored the transformative role of FYPs in shaping students’ research, problem-solving, and technical capabilities. He shared valuable insights on integrating innovation with practicality, encouraging students to approach their projects as opportunities to contribute solutions for real challenges.
The interactive discussions allowed students to raise queries regarding project selection, technical hurdles, and execution strategies. This engagement provided them with clarity, motivation, and expert advice for their upcoming projects.
