BUITEMS Hosts Colloquium of Final Year Research Projects – BS Economics Batch 2021

The Department of Economics, Faculty of Management Sciences, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), successfully organized the Colloquium of Final Year Research Projects (FYP) of the BS Economics Batch 2021.

The defense session served as a culminating academic exercise to evaluate students’ research capabilities, analytical depth, and scholarly communication skills. It provided graduating students with an opportunity to present their research, defend their conclusions under scholarly scrutiny, and meet the academic standards set by the Board of Studies for BS Economics.

The colloquium was chaired by Prof. Dr. Aziz Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, and coordinated by Ms. Zarmina Khan Achakzai. Prof. Dr. Syed Munawar Shah, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. The distinguished supervisory and evaluation panel included Dr. Muhammad Zaheer Khan, Assistant Professor, Ms. Erum Shafi, Assistant Professor, Mr. Muhammad Wali (Faculty of Arts & Basic Sciences), and Mr. Naseebullah (BUITEMS Sub-Campus, University College of Zhob).

Proceedings
The defense began with a formal welcome address by Prof. Dr. Aziz Ahmed, who highlighted the significance of the FYP as a cornerstone of the BS Economics program and encouraged students to view it as a learning opportunity.

Each group presented their work through concise 10–15 minute presentations, followed by question-and-answer sessions, where panelists critically examined methodologies, findings, and policy implications. Constructive feedback was provided, ensuring academic improvement and refinement of research outcomes.

Outcome
The panel commended the academic rigor, creativity, and practical relevance demonstrated by the students. Recommendations were made for minor revisions, after which the projects will be formally accepted as meeting the FYP requirement.

In their concluding remarks, the panel emphasized the importance of student-led research in addressing contemporary socio-economic challenges and acknowledged the dedication of supervisors and faculty members in mentoring the students.

The Department of Economics expressed gratitude to the external experts for their valuable insights and reaffirmed BUITEMS’ commitment to nurturing critical inquiry, research excellence, and problem-solving skills among its graduates.

The successful completion of this colloquium underscores BUITEMS’ role as a hub of quality education, research, and academic excellence, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s economic development and global knowledge society.
