The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) proudly hosted Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman, Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), during his official visit to the newly established Athletics Academy at BUITEMS, Takatu Campus.
The visit highlighted BUITEMS’ commitment to fostering sports excellence and empowering youth through state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities for national and international-level athletic training and competition.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, and Mr. Mohammad Ahsan Achakzai, Registrar (Acting), along with Deans, Directors, faculty members, and officials of BUITEMS, accompanied the Chairman and briefed him on the university’s vision for integrating sports development with academic excellence.
The newly established Athletics Academy at BUITEMS is a landmark project aimed at nurturing emerging athletic talent from across Balochistan and Pakistan. The academy features a modern athletics field designed for hosting national-level competitions and a dedicated academy building that includes four residential halls with an accommodation capacity of 80 athletes, a lecture hall, an administrative office, and a mess facility for players.
The construction of the academy building has been completed, while the athletics field is expected to be finalized within the next three months. Once operational, the academy will serve as a central hub for sports training, youth development, and inter-university competitions, further enhancing BUITEMS’ role as a leading institution in holistic student growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan appreciated BUITEMS for its visionary initiative and praised the university’s leadership for developing modern infrastructure that promotes youth engagement and physical education in Balochistan. He emphasized that the establishment of such academies is in line with the Prime Minister’s Youth Program’s goal to strengthen Pakistan’s sports ecosystem and inspire young people to excel in athletics and leadership.
The visit concluded with a briefing session and a tour of the facilities, where the Chairman expressed his optimism for the Athletics Academy’s potential to become a premier training center for the youth of Pakistan.
The establishment of the Athletics Academy at BUITEMS marks a significant milestone in the university’s pursuit of excellence, embodying its mission to empower youth through education, innovation, and sports development.
