Statutory Bodies

The university is fully functional as a premiere seat of higher education and research. All university bodies like the Senate, the Syndicate, Academic Council, Board of Advanced Studies, Departmental Boards of Study, Finance and Planning Committee and Selection Board are in place and functioning. These bodies are represented by top class academicians, administration and educational leaders.

 The Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor is the principal executive and academic officer of the University and ensures that the provisions of the Ordinance, the Statutes, the Regulation and the Rules are faithfully observed in order to promote general efficiency and good order of the University and has all powers necessary for this purpose including administrative control over all officers, teachers, students and employees of University. The Vice Chancellor has the powers :
  • To create and fill temporary posts for a period not exceeding six months.
     
  • To sanction all expenditure provided for the approved budget and appropriate funds under  the same major head expenditure.
     
  • To sanction re-appropriation of an amount not exceeding five hundred thousand rupees for an unforeseen item not provided for in the budget and report it to the Syndicate at the next meeting.
     
  • To appoint paper setters and examiners for all examinations of the University after receiving panels of names from the relevant authority.
     
  • To make such arrangements for the scrutiny of papers, marks and results as he may consider necessary.
     
  • To direct teachers, officers and employees of the University to take assignments in connection with teaching, research, examination, administration and such other activities of University as he may consider necessary for the purposes of the smooth functioning of the University.
     
  • To delegate subject to conditions, if any, as may be prescribed, any of the powers under Ordinance to an Officer or the employees of the University.
     
  • To exercise general control and supervision over the system of examinations in the University.
     
  • To exercise and perform such other powers and functions as may be prescribed.
     
  • To appoint visiting Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Lecturers in various Disciplines for a periods not more than one Academic year on the terms and conditions as may be prescribed.
     
  • To appoint employees below the rank of Lecturers and equivalent office.
