Chairman HEC Visits BUITEMS, Holds Interactive Session with University Leadership

Quetta: Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, visited the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, where he held an interactive session with the university’s academic and administrative leadership.
Upon arrival, the Chairman HEC was received by Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, Acting Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, along with senior university officials. The visit was also attended by prominent academic leaders from across Balochistan, including Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Vice Chancellor, University of Balochistan (UoB), Quetta; Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU), Quetta; Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, University of Turbat (UoT); and Engr. Prof. Dr. Ehsanullah Kakar, Vice Chancellor, University of Loralai (UoL).
During the visit, Chairman HEC participated in a productive and engaging interactive session with the Deans & Directors of BUITEMS in the presence of the visiting Vice Chancellors, Registrar, faculty members of BUITEMS, and other distinguished guests. The discussion focused on key issues related to higher education, research, academic quality, institutional development, innovation, and opportunities for strengthening universities in Balochistan.
The Chairman HEC appreciated the role of universities in advancing quality education, research, and human resource development. Participants exchanged views on challenges and opportunities in the higher education sector and discussed strategies to enhance academic excellence, research productivity, and institutional collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi highlighted BUITEMS’ commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and regional development. He thanked the Chairman HEC for his visit and continued support for higher education institutions in Balochistan.
At the conclusion of the session, Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, acting Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar as a token of appreciation for his visit and contributions to the advancement of higher education in Pakistan.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of HEC and the universities of Balochistan to strengthening higher education, promoting research excellence, and creating greater opportunities for students and faculty across the province.
