Objectives |
BUITEMS has the component departments required under the umbrella
of the “Faculty of Information and Communication Technology”. Academically and technologically
these departments are well placed and belong to the fields of Information and Communication
Technology. The name “Information and Communication Technology” has now a day’s
replaced “Information Technology” as these go side by side to implement effective
Information Systems.
Information Technology is practice of collecting, storing, using,
and sending out information by means of Computer Systems and Telecommunications
– Electronics lies at the heart of the Computer Systems and is central to the complex
Telecommunication Systems.
Telecommunications is now the fastest changing part of Information
Technology industry, encompassing vast disciplines of Wireless, Networks, Digital
Design, Embedded Computing, Internet, Satellite, Mobile, Multimedia, Parallel Processing,
Software Design, CAD/CAM, MIS, Data Mining, Remote Sensing, Nano Technology and
many more.
As Technology advances, it is a standard axiom that new ways are found to exploit
that improvement. The use of standard computing hardware and the influence of the
internet have lead to the so-called next generation networks. Faster processes have
enabled software engineers to create more useful tools and languages. Increased
processing power has allowed the execution of real-time applications.
Faculty of Information and Communication Technology offers 4 year
(8 Semester) Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic
Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Engineering. Curriculum
of these disciplines is based on the guidelines of HEC National Curriculum Revision
Committee. The Bachelor’s degrees of Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering
and Computer Engineering are accredited and registered by the Engineering Council of Pakistan
as Professional degrees. FICT also offers 2 year Master’s degrees in Computer Science
and Electronic Engineering leading to PhD.
