Department of Chemistry

Mission


The Department of Chemistry at BUITEMS seeks to be nationally and internationally recognized as one of the best Chemistry Department. The Department is committed in providing the BS and MS program in Chemistry which combines curriculum and research that are high-quality, innovative and intellectually challenging. Mission of the department is to advance the Chemical Sciences through quality education of undergraduate and graduate students by providing them with sophisticated classroom and research oriented environment.  

Aims and Objectives


With a high standard for excellence in all areas of Chemistry, the department is producing students who are knowledgeable in chemistry and can think critically. In support of our mission the Department of Chemistry is doing its best to achieve the following goals and objectives.

•  Maintain state-of-the-art teaching and research environment at department.

• Teach students the value of cross-disciplinary thinking by providing them with educational and research opportunities between chemistry and other fields of study.

• Inspire community engagement by providing students with service-learning and community-based research opportunities.

•  Encourage students to value diversity and to develop a global perspective through international experiences in Chemistry.

Programs offered


Currently the Department of Chemistry offer four-year BS (8-semesters) and two-year MS (4-semesters) programs in Chemistry.

Admission Criteria

BS Admission:
The candidates seeking admission in BS Chemistry must have passed F.Sc. with Chemistry or equivalent from any recognized board with minimum 45% marks.

MS Admission:
- 16 years of education in Chemistry or equivalent from any recognized university.
- Passed GAT-General with 50% score or GAT-Subjective with 60% score or GRE subjective (International) with 50 percentile
